FAQ
WHERE CAN I GET IVANKO REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR MY GYM OR FACILITY?
Our long-time parts dealer, National Gym Supply is a stocking distributor of Ivanko and other OEM parts and products and is your best (and most expeditious) source for all your Ivanko part and accessory needs. National Gym can be reached via their website or at (800) 496-7278.
DO YOU OFFER REPLACEMENTS PARTS FOR THE STA-SLIM/IVANKO BICEP BLASTER, HEAD HARNESS, ETC.?
We do maintain a partial inventory of spare parts for older, discontinued products (some produced under the Sta-Slim brand) like our Bicep Blaster, Head Harness, and Weightlifting Belts, as well as (some) fasteners for our older weightlifting collars. While we may not have every part you need, e-mail us and we'll see what we can do. All other parts requests should be directed toward our OEM parts distributor, National Gym Supply.

I HAVE PHOTOS OF IVANKO EQUIPMENT IN MY GYM. WILL YOU PUT UP THE PHOTOS IN YOUR GALLERY OR ON SOCIAL MEDIA?
Yes, we're always happy to put up photos of IVANKO equipment in action, be it from your home gym or your commercial gym. You must "own" the photos you send to us (or allow us to confirm that the owner has given permission for use) as we endeavor to credit all outside photos on our site or media channels.
I HAVE AN IVANKO OLYMPIC BAR THAT NEEDS REPAIR. CAN YOU FIX IT?
Often, yes. It only makes (financial) sense if the bar is a US-made model such as our OB-20KG, OBX-20KG, OBS-20KG, among others. Whether you are the original owner, or you bought the bar used, we can repair your bar for a reasonable fee, though we have to examine the bar before making any decisions. If the bar is bent, we can usually straighten it back to Ivanko tolerance. If the sleeves won't turn, we can fix that too (usually by replacing the fasteners) among other things. Please e-mail us for more information. Please give us your location and any details on original purchase if you have them. Photos are often useful too.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE COT-1.25 & COT-2.5 COMPRESSION RING COLLARS?
Both the COT-1.25 and COT-2.5 are training (as opposed to competition) collars. The COT-2.5 is heavier (2.5 lbs each) and wider and thicker than the COT-1.25 (1.25 lbs each). The primary advantage of the COT-2.5 is its weight. Traditionally, when we first came out with a version of this collar in the 1970's, collars weighed 2.5 lbs each. Therefore, you could figure 5 lbs for a collar and 20KG (44.08 lbs) -- approx. 50 lbs altogether -- for the Olympic bar and collars. There is no discernible difference in performance between the two collars. Each holds to the bar very well. The COT-1.25, because it's smaller, allows more weight on the bar.
WILL YOUR IVANKO PLATES FIT ON BARS BY OTHER MANUFACTURERS?
Occasionally, people will call us to say, "Your plates will not fit on our bars!" We wonder why they never say, "Our bars do not fit into your plates." So what is the problem--the bar not fitting into the plates or plates not fitting onto the bars? Either way, if there’s not a fit, there’s a problem. Here are the facts: The best Olympic bars in the world-- IVANKO, Eleiko, York, and Uddeholm-- all measure between 49.5mm (1.949 in.) and 50mm (1.969 in.) diameter. The hole size of an IVANKO Olympic plate is 50.2mm (1.976 in.) minimum to 50.8mm (2.00 in.) maximum. Plates with these dimensions will fit on any of the industry’s top bars. Problems usually occur when people try to put our plates on cheap bars. In this case, plates at the extreme maximum, 50.8mm (2.00 in.), may fit, whereas plates at the minus side of the hole tolerance, 50.2mm (1.976 in.), will not. Usually at this point, a customer will ask us why we don’t just make the holes in our plates larger so that they can fit every bar? That kind of production is not what IVANKO is about. IVANKO is about accuracy: consistent measurement, close tolerance, and a proper fit. These qualities are integral to the IVANKO philosophy.
DO MY CAST-IRON R/EP 1.25 30LB. FIXED DUMBBELLS INCLUDE THE WEIGHT OF THE HANDLES?
Yes, we include the weight of the handle in all our fixed dumbbells.
DO YOU MAKE DUMBBELLS IN 2.5 LB INCREMENTS?
Yes, we offer our urethane dumbbells in 2.5 lb increments in urethane, rubber and cast-iron dumbbells, from 7.5 to 57.5 lbs. These cast iron 2.5 lb increment dumbbells are in stock now in both rubber and cast iron styles.
WILL IVANKO BARS BEND?
Yes, all bars will bend, but our bars will flex and then return to normal if not abused. For the best explanation, see the articles “Strength and Bending of Olympic Bars" and "How To Bend an Olympic Bar, Part I," the Olympic Bar section of our blog.
WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU OFFER IN KILOGRAMS?
Our OB-20 series bars are weighted in kilograms, as our CO-2.5KG collars. Our Rubber and Urethane fixed dumbbells and barbells are offered in "true" kilograms from separate tooling, not simply "re-badged" pound weights. The following plate lines are available in kilograms: Urethane (OU), OM, OMEZS, RUBO, OBPX, OBP, OCB, CBP, and CBPP.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN YOUR R AND RM SERIES PLATES and WHICH PLATE SHOULD I CHOOSE FOR FIXED DUMBBELLS?
Our RM plates will be noticeably machined on all surfaces, including the edges. R Series plates are great castings but lack the machining of an RM. Most fixed dumbbells that take an R plate will also take an EP 1.25 (a non-machined ductile cast-iron end plate) because to use an RM plate with a non-machined end plate (which is what the EP 1.25 is), somewhat defeats the intention of having every component sit tight in tolerance next to another to prevent movement, and thus wear. For this reason, a machined plate (RM) is best used with a machined end plate (EP 1.5 or EPC 1.5).
WHY ARE THE OBP-5 AND OBP-10 TRAINING PLATES MORE EXPENSIVE PER LB. (OR PER KILO), THAN OTHER PLATES WHICH ARE HEAVIER?
Our lighter weight plates are constructed differently than our heavier plates. In order for lighter weight plates to withstand some abuse, production and material costs are higher on these items.
MY DUMBBELLS, PLATES OR BARS ARE RUSTY. IS RUST COVERED UNDER WARRANTY?
No, rust is not covered by warranty. Any cast iron dumbbell or plate will eventually rust. Any bar with a coating will eventually rust. Stainless steel bars are the best option in humid environments. But even stainless will rust. See our maintenance bulletins for measures you can take to retard rust on Olympic bars with black-oxide finish.
THE PAINT IS CHIPPING OFF OF MY CAST-IRON PLATES OR DUMBBELLS. WHAT CAN I DO?
No paint can withstand the constant collision together of plates or dumbbells without eventually chipping. Rubber and urethane are the only way to go if one wants a maintenance-free Olympic plate or dumbbell.
HOW DO I PREVENT THE BLACK-OXIDE FINISH ON MY OLYMPIC BAR FROM RUSTING?
You cannot "prevent" your bar from rusting, but you can take steps to retard the rust. See our published article blog post entitled "Care & Maintenance of your Ivanko Olympic Bar,"
WHAT IS THE IVANKO WARRANTY?
Ivanko warranties original purchases, made through an authorized dealer, for one year. Urethane products are warrantied for five years. Excluded from warranty are: (1) Paint chipping, (2) Abusive bending of bars or dropping of dumbbells. (3) Purchase through unauthorized channels. Any specific issues regarding an IVANKO product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have less than 1/10 of 1% return rate due to defects. We often find that problems relating to merchandise are, in fact, due to products by other makers.
DO YOU SHIP ORDERS INTERNATIONALLY? HOW CAN I ORDER FROM OUTSIDE THE USA?
Ivanko does ship internationally, however you cannot place an online order since there are many factors (such as freight and customs) that need to be determined for each customer and destination. See here for more information on international orders outside of the U.S.A.
